Physical Improvement Program
Eligible Applicants
All, DCI Levy paying commercial property owners/tenants located within Downtown Charlottetown Inc.'s Business Improvement Area *(BIA). Tenants must have letter of approval from property owner.
This program is designed to provide commercial property owners/tenants, the incentive to invest in the continued revitalization of our downtown by providing financial assistance for façade improvements to your property. The resulting benefits are increased aesthetic appeal and property value, making an important contribution to the overall revitalization of our downtown.
Facades are defined as:
The outside wall, which border on a street, parking lot, walkway or public alleyway. Facades that border on narrow corridors between buildings or that will have a structure constructed along that façade in the future are not eligible to receive assistance.
*BIA includes, Euston Street to the water, between Pownal Street (both sides) and Prince Street (both sides) from Euston to the water.
Eligible Improvements
Painting, siding, windows, doors, awnings, fixtures, permanent window displays, front steps, reconstruction, accessibility and signage.
Financial Assistance
50% of the total costs to maximum of $2000.00 per façade, maximum two facades per building. Downtown Charlottetown will review applications on a first come first serve bases. Funds will be distributed until 2011 budget allocation has been depleted, at which point no new applicants will be approved for funding in 2011.
Applications including written cost estimates and required permits must be submitted to Downtown Charlottetown Inc. prior to the commencement of any work. Upon review, a Letter of Agreement will be issued detailing terms of conditions and amount of funding approved. Payment of claims will be contingent upon work completion, submission of detailed Claim Form (provided with Letter of Agreement) and copies of all invoices and cancelled cheques to Downtown Charlottetown Inc.
