For the month of October, November, and December, if you receive a parking meter ticket in downtown Charlottetown you are eligible to have it forgiven, using a purchase receipt of $35 or more from a downtown business*. See details below.
How it Works:
- Residents/visitors who receive a parking meter violation can submit their ticket along with a receipt from a downtown business as ticket payment.
- Ticket and receipt should be taken to the Charlottetown Police station (10 Kirkwood Drive) within 5 days of ticket being issued.
:Rules
- Only tickets issued for meter violations are eligible for this program.
- Only purchases made at a business within the BIA* are valid.
- The value of the purchase must be a minimum of $35 before taxes and must have been made within three hours of ticket being issued.
- Receipts must show the name and address of the business, the date, and the dollar amount.
- A receipt may only be used once and cannot be used by more than one person.
- The receipt will be stamped as used and returned to the owner.
- Receipts from couriers, food delivery drivers, and other delivery operations do not qualify for this program.
- Bank statements will not be accepted in lieu of a receipt.
- Private/public parking garages and off-street lots are not included in this promotion.
- Motorists must abide by other posted signage, such as accessible parking, and loading zones.
- This program will not be applied retroactively.
- Only one ticket, per person, may be cancelled per week.
- Reminder: Parking is FREE on weekends in the downtown.
*BIA includes all businesses between Prince & Pownal St, Euston to the Water.
